Purchasing a home is an exciting and often busy time. Let the professionals at Aardvark Home Inspectors take the stress out of this experience by performing an objective evaluation of the home. All Aardvark inspectors are professionally trained, licensed, insured, and participate in continuing education classes
Many individuals do not know how to evaluate the condition of a home, and not one homeowner likes unforeseen expensive repairs. Aardvark’s home inspectors are trained to examine and evaluate all the major components of the home. Our professional home inspectors will likely find conditions that the seller or purchaser may not have noticed.
Michael Wicklund is the owner and operator of STERLING Home Inspection Services. Michael began his career in the construction field. He is a third generation carpenter following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. As a self-employed remolding contractor his focus was on kitchen and bath remodels. With experience in these areas he was continually called upon to bid jobs related to real estate transactions. This work is commonly referred to as real estate work orders, i.e. any item generated from a home inspection or pest inspection.
After seventeen years of remodeling and repairs from other inspector’s reports, and feeling the need for a career change the natural path was for him to become a home inspector himself. With his past construction experience he decided to attend home inspection school, he chose Inspection Training Associates ITA because of their high quality of training in the inspection industry. There he received certification allowing him to become a well-rounded home inspector. In addition, he acquired the necessary licensing from the Washington State Department of Agriculture, which allows him to perform structural pest inspections (WDO inspections). Education is a high priority to Michael; he frequently attends continuing education classes, so he can stay up to date on the most current building practices.
Michael finds great satisfaction as a full time home inspector educating perspective homebuyers.

Home inspectors are NOT created equal! States require little or no educational requirements for home inspection companies. You should choose your inspector carefully.

Do your homework when hiring a home inspector!!!
State licensing and certification is VOLUNTARY in the state of Virginia…anyone can start a home inspection business and claim to be a Home Inspector!
Be sure to ask several questions when hiring someone to inspect your home:
Are you state certified and fully licensed through the state of Virginia? ALL STATE CERTIFIED INSPECTORS CAN BE FOUND ON DPOR website.
Are you affiliated with a professional organization, such as ASHI? (Please note: There are different certification levels in professional organizations. For example, in order to be a CERTIFIED INSPECTOR for ASHI, an inspector must have completed a minimum number of inspections and passed their exam.)
Can I see a copy of your home inspection report?
Is inspecting homes your full-time job?
Are you insured with professional and general liability?
Do you carry Errors & Omissions insurance?
Do you provide a computer generated inspection report with digital pictures?
Do you provide online access to inspection report with ability to forward report to others?
Will you provide us with an estimated cost of repairs or replacements?
These are a few sample questions to ask when hiring a home inspector. The more informed you are, the better choice you can make when hiring an inspector to meet your needs.

It will take anywhere from 2.5 to 7 hours, depending on the size and condition of the property. I’ll discuss my process and findings with you, point out important maintenance items, and answer all of your questions.
